Log Building Manufacturers

Manufacturers and builders of log homes and various log building structures in Lithuania can be considered as registered companies that design, produce, and construct log buildings using horizontally stacked natural wood logs/wall elements, joined at the corners with notches / joints / corner locks.

Make sure that the company you intend to hire is not just a marketing illusion. It is possible that the company, your prospective contractor, is merely presenting itself through marketing as a manufacturer or builder of log homes, saunas, or other log structures, but in reality, it lacks a production facility. Most importantly, such a company may not have professional craftsmen, properly trained personnel, or the necessary equipment—without which it is impossible to manufacture any log building components, let alone construct and equip a log house. These “pretender” companies are not accountable for anything.

One of the objectives of the Lithuanian “Log Homes Manufacturers Association” (abbreviated RNGA) is to inform the public about companies that are committed to working with high quality, following specific strict rules designed exclusively for log buildings. RNGA serves as a kind of quality guarantee, as it implements a prepared action plan that has been successfully carried out by similar organizations in other countries.

These are “Technical Requirements and Rules” that leave no room for ambiguous interpretation and are unquestionable. They are clearly understandable to designers, manufacturers, builders, and the general public, leaving no basis for disputes between the Contractor and the Client. The rules’ provisions will soon be regulated at the state level—it is only a matter of time. Currently, RNGA, together with the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment, has initiated a “review and consolidation” of the Technical Requirements. For this purpose, scientists from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) have been invited to the working group.

Based on the upcoming regulated requirements, the rules are written and detailed even further, broken down for each part of a log building, illustrating structural solutions and various joints. This serves as a type of Log Building Standard, titled – “Technical Requirements for the Design and Construction of Log Buildings”. Its content is accessible only to associated Members. However, upon signing a Construction Contract between a company and a potential Client, the Client also has the right to receive the “Technical Requirements for the Design and Construction of Log Buildings”.

The Log Building Manufacturers Association (abbreviated RNGA), promoting a greater number of high-quality log buildings in the Lithuanian market, together with consenting Member companies, enforces strict oversight. From the very beginning, project documentation is carefully reviewed, as it has a significant impact on subsequent work and the long-term performance of a quality log building. At the start of construction, a mandatory site inspection is carried out. Upon request and agreement between the Client and RNGA, site inspection, technical supervision, and full project management can be provided throughout the entire construction process.

Therefore, to inform the public, we emphasize that if a company does not appear among the members on the RNGA website on this page, it means that, for now, it has not agreed to strict quality control. Such a company, when manufacturing and constructing log buildings, either follows non-adapted rules or operates independently.

Every self-respecting company must adhere to principles of fairness, honesty, and reasonableness. A company cannot slander other companies if they operate according to the same principles.
